My recent SoulFessions Podcast, Open Your Heart to Receive, just released last week. As I create topics for my podcasts, I like to look at the things I’m working on and what I’m doing that’s working for me. As I’ve been focusing my attention on receiving, I want to share the tools I’ve been using to achieve this.
I have always been a giver, and I love being a giver. However for life to flow there needs to be a balance- a give and a take.
For the longest time, I felt that if I’m giving I should not expect to receive. I thought that I should not expect to receive something in return from the person I was giving to.
Mind Shift Change #1
Receiving can occur in many ways and does not necessarily mean you will be receiving from the person you are giving to. It does not mean that you will receive right away. You must be open to receiving and be aware that it will happen. Be present so that you can see the moments when you are receiving.
Mind Shift Change #2
Receiving is more than just receiving financially.
Receiving can
- A compliment
- Someone is listening when you need to vent.
- A Hug
- Lending a helping hand
Write down all the ways you could receive.
How do you feel as you think about these things?
I’ll be honest, the idea of receiving use to make me cry rivers. Maybe even oceans depending on what someone was trying to give me. I cried like this because something within me did not feel like I deserved to receive.
That might sound silly to you, or it may resonate very loudly. Learning how to receive was not easy for me. I have to admit I still cry sometimes. Financially receiving has been my biggest hurdle.
Abundance is achievable for everyone.
Mind Shift Change #3
What if I received every day?
Write down the thoughts and feelings that come up when you think about what it would be like to receive every day.
Ask yourself:
- Where did I get that idea?
- Release the labels that feel untrue about what receiving feels like.
- Replace all negative feelings about receiving with positive feelings.
